MeeMedia
A plug-in hosting media module for MeediOS

History:

First of all a big thanks to Dr. Ryan Gray (UFGrayMatter) for developing the original MeeMedia module for Meedio and providing me with the source code so I could start developing it further.

This is how it looked back then:

Meemedia for Meedio by UFGrayMatter

Current:

This is how it looks now:

Meemedia for MeediOS captured by ztoner

Features:

- Browse and play media from many online sources inside MeediOS.
- Plug-in installation and configuration is done from inside the module UI.
- The MeeMedia Plug-ins are easy to create, see "Plug-in development".

Available Plug-ins:
Main repository

not yet updated

US repository

not yet updated

Dutch repository

German repository

British repository

Swedish repository

Norwegian repository

Adult content repository

Module Setup:
MeeMedia is part of the default installer, so after MeediOS installation all you need to do is add additional repositories and install plug-ins.

Alternative Evolution and Xperience1080 sreen files:
Image
left click image to go to the sourceforge directory, use "save page as" to dowload the files.

Module navigation:
Besides the standard: UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, SELECT, BACK, EXIT there are some additional commands.

when an item on the list of videos, audio streams or pictures is selected
PLAY: one can use this command to bypass the “advanced play options screen” to just play the item.
NEXT: when there is a “next page” item found on the list, it will load the next page.
PREVIOUS: when there is a “previous page” item found on the list, it will load the previous page.

When viewing a play list of pictures
NEXT: when there is a next picture in the play list, it will load the next picture.
PREVIOUS: when there is a previous picture in the play list, it will load the previous picture.

Plug-in development:

Plug-ins are written in un-compiled C# (.cs file), VB .NET (.vb file), J# (.js file), or a compiled .dll of the before mentioned variants. This way anyone can start writing his/her own plug-ins using any text editor, although using a "real" development environment like Visual Studio Epress 2012(free) is recommended.

how to make your own plug-in forum thread(outdated)
the how-to thread will be updated soon to reflect the recent module changes.

Definitely looking forward to this too. Perhaps I'll try to help out with some additional importers if time permits.

Can the plugins be uploaded to openmaid as service plugins?

they can be hosted anywhere, as long as you mimic the structure of the currently used repositories.

looks like things are going well! :) Thanks for the props in the first post.

I do have much more free time these days if one would want to hit me up ;-)

@ztoner
I could use the perspective of someone that's new to the plugin structure, in order to write a decent how-to. So I'll be glad to help you write a plug-in and you'll be helping me at the same time. Just start a new thread next week and I'll help you ;)

@Ryan
Glad to hear from you again. It would be great if you could chime-in with a plugin or two, since you're already so familiair with the project ;)

@all
This week I'll be finishing the module, there's still some work that needs to be done on the SharedFunctions.dll that holds the methods that make it easier to write plug-ins. Some changes will improve performance, some to remove dependencies on 3rd party dlls. Also I still have to start on a decent website for the MeeMedia project over at SourceForge, which is just one of those things that API partners ask for.

HAHA "new" to plugin structure 8) more like a guy that never wrote a singel line of code ...

I did manage to make seesharp scrap the actual site through rss feed to get some of the contents, so I might be able to do it.

But I remember that it took like a month to get that right, so be prepared for a lot of "stupid" questions 8)
anyway nice of you!

seems like the option to use winamp is enabled while the path to winamp is incorrect.

Can you confirm?
